Why WordPress Rocks: Franco Yong

Friday 1 February 2008 @ 4:52 pm

WordPress has been gaining more and more popularity over other blogging platforms. If you haven’t done so, consider doing so now. You can even have it run on autopilot with automated income from affiliate programs such as Clickbank, Amazon and others. Of course not forgetting, income from Google Adsense.

These autopilot sites can be installed with a step-by-step video tutorial of just 40-minute running time. In under 2 hours you can have your first auto blog up. Of course once you know the ins-and-outs after the first installation, your second blog and many more others can be installed in under 15 minutes or less. And all these are just additional auto blogs with money-making opportunities.

If you had to blog, why not earn money as well? Your choice really - passively or actively.

Oh yes!! Another good feature about it is that while you are away on holiday, your blog content can be automatically fed with posts from other people to maintain freshness until you are able to write.

This is how I set up this particular site that you are seeing right now. It took me under 1 hour to it up and running about 10 days ago. Best of all, WordPress gives me an option to import all my other blogs from Blogger, etc. I did just that. Voila!! All my previous posts in my other blogs are found at this site too.

For the tool and the secret you can visit these links -

A Simply Way To Change A Header For Your Blog?

Thursday 5 July 2007 @ 10:06 am

Following from my earlier posting about free headers for your blog, here is -

A few simple steps to change the Header in the Blogger’s blog.

Gone are those good old days when you have to know and work hard editing with complex HTML code. Phew!! What a relief. Blogger has provided us with a platform that seamless and easily allows us to do editing without the need for any HTML knowledge. If you feel that you wished to change the header in your blogger’s blog to something that convey your message of your blog, you can follow these few simple steps .

Dashboard > Template > Page Element > Header (Just below the Navbar) > Click on Edit Button > Browse the image in your PC and Upload > Save

Being a little patient. Your header is almost done. Just one more step.

Click the edit > (A new browser will open as usual where you will find Blog Title, Blog Description, Image and Placement). Under the Placement section, you will notice 2 sub sections:

  • Behind title and description
  • Instead of title and description

Click Instead of title and description and proceed to save changes.

Your new looking header of your choice is ready to set and enhance the tone of your blog.

Check out your new header!!

How To Have A Successful Blog? : By Franco Yong

Tuesday 19 June 2007 @ 6:03 am

Working as a blogger can be enjoyable and full of fun!! In addition, you’ll get to earn money by doing do. Assembling thoughts, words, images, video and audio together in bursts of opinion-bites allows one to share ideas, thoughts and opinions that one would have otherwise gone unheard or unseen.

Do you know that one can be employed as a blogger? Landing on a dream and lucrative job as a professional blogger involves a just simple steps.

Step 1 : Make people want you!! You’ll need to make yourself valuable by being functionally attractive as a blogger that benefits the potential employer.

Step 2 : Connect with opportunities. This simply means passively searching for blogging jobs or actively networking and applying for unadvertised or non-existent positions.

More on being a successful blogger.

1. Create a Blog (Chapters 2 & 3)

Follow Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 on how to create a blog. Your personal blog is a fantastic way to showcase your writing skills, flair for design and passion for blogging. To begin with, blog on a subject or more topics that you are very passionate about. Your blog is your world.

2. Learn To Write Well

Although you may be great with words, you can always improve. Learning to write effectively. By doing so, you can attract readership to your blog. Remember - you’ll also need to maintain readership loyalty.

I personally find it extremely difficult to write in a caustic, humorous style, one that is full of witty sarcasm. Frequent blogging can lead you to develop a grasp of the written words.

Employers going to scrutinize your blog and writing samples. Learning to develop a strong and creative personal style can indeed be very helpful. Use a spellchecker to finally ensure there are no spell mistakes!

3. Identify Your Niche

Identifying a niche that you are passionate about. Perhaps, gadgets, art, mobile phones, dieting, nutrition, exercise, relationships or something that appeals to you dearly to your heart? Start with something you like to do and start building a noticeable presence in the field through your personal blog. Actively participate in the industry or relevant blog community or communities.

4. Build Professional Credibility

After starting a blog you might want to start building some professional credibility by writing for the press, magazines, corporations or NGOs. You can blog for their local community/group or organization. At the on-start, forget about profitability. Showcases will gain you entry with credentials that you have experience working as a professional writer.

Furthermore, you could have a blog that primarily deals with sponsored posts, which would also show creativity by integrating corporate objectives into the overall feel or format of the blog.

Now you’re ready to take the first step to begin working into being a professional blogger.
